Biography |
Susie Amy is a British actress most famous for her role as
Chardonnay Lane-Pascoe in the first two seasons of
Footballers' Wives.
Amy was brought up in Surrey and attended Sir William
Perkins School in Chertsey. Her father is Ron Amy OBE,
former chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds
(NAPF), and her sister, Lynn, is a scientist. An agent
spotted her in 1999 when she was doing a play at the
National Theatre in London - After Juliet by Sharman
McDonald. Over the next two years she got parts in Sirens
(2002), the sitcom Sam's Game, The Swap and My Family.
Amy's first big break came in 2001, at the age of 20, when
she was chosen to play 'Chardonnay Lane' in ITV drama
Footballers' Wives (2002), which became one of the most
talked about shows on TV. She had five auditions for the
part; the producers originally wanted a blonde actress but
changed their minds after meeting Susie. In 2002, she was
voted #74 in FHM's 100 Sexiest Girls of 2002 poll and #63 in
2003, UK edition, after appearing on the front cover in
February 2003.
Having filmed a second series of Footballers Wives, she was
chosen for the lead role of Valentine D'Artagnan in the
Hallmark Production La Femme Musketeer (2004), starring
alongside Michael York, Gérard Depardieu and Nastassja
Kinski. For the role she had to train in martial arts,
fencing and horse riding, which she is said to have loved.
She played Beatrice Hastings - one of Andy Garcia's love
interests- in the 2003 film 'Modigliani'. And starred in the
film 'House of Nine' with Dennis Hopper and Kelly Brook in
2004.
In 2005, she played the lead role of Susy Henderson, in the
Bill Kenwright produced play, Wait Until Dark. The character
of Susy, who is blind, is commonly thought of as being the
most exhausting role in theatre.
In 2006 she played John Thompson's wife Tessa in the BBC's
New Street Law. And in November and December 2007 she
appeared in Coronation Street, as the ex-wife of Tony Gordon
(played by Gray O'Brien). Early in 2008 she parodied herself
as the actress "Suzie Amy" in the TV comedy-drama Moving
Wallpaper, and played Angela Cole in Wallpaper's sister
show, the soap opera Echo Beach. She also was a judge with
Dancing On Ice: The Live Tour at the Sheffield, Hallam FM
Arena. Amy was reported in 2008 to be working in
pre-production of Cowboys for Christ, Robin Hardy's
reimagining of his 1973 The Wicker Man. |
