Biography |
Rosamund Pike has showbiz in her blood. The daughter of a
prominent opera singer and a concert violinist, Rosamund
began playing the piano and cello at an early age, and
joined the National Youth Theatre at the age of 16.
Following high school, Rosamund attended Oxford University's
Wadham College, where she graduated Magnum Cum Laude with a
degree in English literature.
As impressive as her scholarly achievements may have been,
Rosamund contends, "I'm probably a better actress than an
academic." She was given the chance to prove that in 2002
when she was selected from among hundreds of women to play
Bond Girl Miranda Frost in Die Another Day. The film grossed
over $160 million at the box office and netted her a
prestigious Empire Award for Best Debut.
Since then, Rosamund has starred alongside Johnny Depp in
The Libertine (2006), Keira Knightley in Pride & Prejudice
(2005) and Dwayne Johnson in Doom (2005). We're guessing
that particular film had more to do with the paycheck than
it did with the opportunity to act with The Rock.
Doom's special effects now firmly behind her, Rosamund can
be seen in the films Devil You Know (2006) and Fracture
(2006). As for the future, her goals are simple: "I want to
carry on doing this all my life," she says. We certainly
hope she does. |
