    Biography
Marisol Nichols was born November 2, 1973, in Chicago, Illinois. The eldest of three children, she displayed a rebellious streak early on. “I was one of those kids in class who was bored with the teaching,” she recalls. “I didn't understand a lot. I missed some things early on. So, eventually, I started just not going.” Marisol’s truancy eventually led to drug and alcohol abuse, and later, a life-changing epiphany. “I remember being 17 and looking around at some of the people that I was hanging out with, and I had this realization that if I didn’t knock this off now it would become my life,” she recalls. “At 17, I quit everything.”

Marisol soon replaced her rebellious behavior with more productive activities like acting, which she tried for the first time in junior college. “I figured I could be an extra and learn about acting,” she says. Instead, Marisol ended up getting the lead role on her very first audition. “As soon as I started doing it, I thought, ‘This is fantastic! This is what I was looking for!’” she gushes. “I changed all my classes to theater classes. I found what I was interested in.” Marisol’s interest also allowed her to win the National Speech Theater Championship Award, which in turn led to a full scholarship to study drama at Eastern Michigan University.

Despite the generous offer, Marsiol decided to turn her back on the world of academia once again in favor of the bright lights of Los Angeles. Although she would eventually flourish, Marisol is the first to admit that her initial foray into showbiz wasn’t all fun and games. “I went a whole year without working, just auditioning and auditioning,” she says. “Nothing happened. But every time I asked myself the question: Is this really what I want to do in my life? The answer was always ‘Yes.'”

Luckily, her perseverance paid off in 1996 when she landed her first of several guest-starring roles in shows such as My Guys, Due South, Beverly Hills 90210, and ER. Marisol built up her success the following year when she made her big-screen debut in Vegas Vacation alongside Chevy Chase, Randy Quaid and Wayne Newton.

Her outstanding performance in the film paved the way for roles in other big-budget blockbuster hits including Scream 2 (1997) starring Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell, Can’t Hardly Wait (1998), Jane Austen’s Mafia (1998), and Bowfinger (1999). Marisol also filled her increasingly busy schedule with appearances in popular TV shows such as Alias with Jessica Alba, Friends, Law & Order, Cold Case, and Nip/Tuck.

By now a proven commodity, Marisol was given the opportunity to star in her own show in 2005 when she was signed on to play Detective Karen Bettancourt on Blind Justice. Although the show only lasted one season, she landed on her feet the following year with an 11-episode run on In Justice, a liberal-minded crime drama featuring Kyle MacLahlan.

Those shows were just a prelude to 2007 when Marisol landed the dream role of Nadia Yassir on 24. “I just auditioned, and I gotta tell you -- it was the fourth time that I auditioned for a role on 24,” she says. “I felt like, they don’t like me, they don’t want me. But apparently they did, and they just couldn’t find the right role.”

Marisol Nichols next starred in Delta Farce (2007), a big-screen romp starring Larry the Cable Guy. “I like doing comedies,” she says, “especially after working on a drama.”
