Biography |
Lauren Lee Smith (born June 19, 1980 in Vancouver, British
Columbia, Canada) is an actress now living in the United
States.
Being the stepdaughter of a documentary filmmaker, Lauren
traveled around the world with her family. When she was 14,
her family moved to Los Angeles, California. There, she
began a modeling career. At the age of 19, she was cast in a
featured role in the remake of Get Carter. Smith has also
appeared in such works as Christy: Return to Cutter Gap,
Christy: A Change of Seasons and Christy: A New Beginning
and star in the show Mutant X, where she played the
character of Emma deLauro. She was also a guest star in an
episode of Season 3 of the series Dead Zone. Lauren has also
appeared as a frequent guest star in the Showtime drama
series The L Word, playing the Sous-chef Lara Perkins.
Smith's character Lara has had recurrent appearances during
Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of the series. In 2005, Smith filmed the
movie Lie with Me, where she played the character of Leila.
As of fall 2006 she has a recurring part on the Canadian
drama Intelligence. In early 2007, she is set to star in the
CBC mini-series Dragon Boys.
Lauren is now set to star in the film Pathology from the
creators of Crank. The film also stars Milo Ventimiglia from
the TV show Heroes. |

Enjoys snowboarding, ice skating, rollerblading, basketball,
swimming, horseback riding.
Was cast as Gibb in Freddy vs. Jason (2003), but then lost
the part because of another film scheduling conflict. The
producers re-cast Katharine Isabelle in the role.
There was a big debate on whether or not Lauren would keep
her blonde hair for "Mutant X" (2001).
During her youth she traveled around the world with her
family and has lived in Europe, Central America, The U.S.
and Canada.
In 2002 Lauren was nominated for a Gemini for her role as
Evil Emma in Mutant X's Double Vision.
Her first professional acting job was a featured role in Get
Carter (2000) starring Sylvester Stallone.
She was noticed by a fashion scout when she was just 13
years old.
Lauren and her "Mutant X" (2001) co-star Forbes March were
in an acting class together when they were around 12 or 13.
It was her choice to not appear in "Mutant X" (2001) 3rd
season. She was not fired.
She was listed as one of the top 13 Canadian actresses in
the October edition of enRoute (Air Canada) Magazine.
Lauren's stepfather is a documentary filmmaker. |
