Biography |
Katie Price (ne Katie Infield) was born on May 22nd, 1978,
and grew up in the seaside town of Brighton in Sussex,
England. The decision to embark on a modeling career came
after a friend suggested a session with a professional
photographer. The pictures were sent to an agency in London
and to her astonishment, she was invited to participate in a
photo shoot.
Katie soon signed a contract and became a Page 3 sensation
(a popular feature in the British tabloid the Sun), changing
her name to Jordan shortly thereafter. As her popularity
grew, her relationship with an electrician began to decline
and the couple parted in 1997. Other dalliances included
football (soccer) star Teddy Sheringham and showjumper
Oliver Skeete.
In 1998, she began dating Gladiator "Ace" Warren Furman of
British television fame. The relationship soured, however,
when Furman became envious of the attention Jordan received
while entertaining British troops in Kosovo. One of her more
publicized relationships was with Dane Bowers, former lead
singer of Another Level, whom she shacked up with.
Jordan auditioned for a part in Baywatch in 1998, but was
unsuccessful in landing a part. Although she had become an
established model, Jordan was insecure about her chest size.
Believing that implants would help her cause, she decided to
have plastic surgery. The result was an increase in size
from B to D. The dramatic journey leading up to the
procedure was chronicled in every tabloid newspaper in the
UK.
Following the successful operation, Jordan decided never to
pose for Page 3, although the Sun in particular had long
since instituted a policy of using only natural girls.
Jordan has since shifted her focus to a career in music,
training with a vocal coach and utilizing her contacts
gained via her relationship with Bowers to land a record
deal. And she put her hot body to good use, posing on the
cover of Play..boy's September 2002 issue. Thanks to that
pictorial, fans could get a glimpse of her now FF breasts,
after a total of three implant operations.
In 2002, she also released her very own calendar and became
the proud mother of baby Harvey in May (who she named after
her grandfather); Manchester United star Dwight Yorke is the
father, but they are no longer together.
Famous for being famous, Katie Price was the subject of a
trilogy of documentaries (directed by BBC filmmaker Richard
Macer), starting with Jordan: The Truth About Me (2002),
followed by Jordan: The Model Mum (2004) and concluding with
Jordan: You Don't Even Know Me (2004). The films follow
Jordan from her modeling days, to her pregnancy, to the
birth of her child and separation from her boyfriend, all
while seeing her life played out in the British tabloids.
Unfortunately, Katie learned that her son, Harvey, was born
blind, as his optic nerve didn't develop properly.
Throughout her career, Katie Price has appeared as herself
in British TV shows such as The Frank Skinner Show, Dream
Team and The Dunphy Show. But she generated the most buzz
with her stint on the celebrity reality show, I'm a
Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, in 2004, when she began a
highly-publicized relationship with her "co-star," Aussie
singer Peter Andre. |
