Biography |
Though she’s long since established herself as one of the
hottest up-and-coming models around, Jessica Miller’s
adolescence certainly didn’t contain any hints of her
lucrative career. The daughter of a carpenter and a
showgirl, Jessica grew up in Las Vegas where, even though
her beauty was evident as a small child, she never gave a
second thought to a possible future in modeling. In fact,
Jessica’s boredom with the glitzy Vegas lifestyle eventually
resulted in a brief stint as a member of a girl gang (the
teenagers would skip school and cause trouble, much to the
chagrin of their parents).
It wasn’t until her mother insisted that she join a modeling
school at the age of 15 that Jessica began actively pursuing
a career within the industry, and the following year the
young girl was discovered by a scout from the prestigious
Next agency. Though Jessica was encouraged to move to New
York, her first couple of years as a model proved to be
disheartening. She did land the occasional gig, but she was
generally only featured in foreign publications (steady
work, to be sure, but not exactly the sort of stuff that’ll
raise a would-be model’s profile).
Everything changed for Jessica when she was 17 years old,
however, after she won a lucrative Calvin Klein contract
that essentially guaranteed her a spot in every single Klein
print ad for two years. She instantly became a huge star
within the modeling world, and spent the next couple of
years appearing in various Klein advertisements and
traveling the world in the process.
It was also around that time that Jessica began seeing the
lead singer of Incubus, Brandon Boyd, following her
admission that she was a big fan of the band. Brandon, after
hearing this, got a mutual friend to stage an introduction.
Following her stint with Calvin Klein, Jessica found herself
in demand with some of the most well-known magazines and
fashion companies. In addition to gracing the cover of
magazines like British Bazaar and Italian Vogue, Jessica has
been featured in high-profile campaigns for illustrious
names like Givenchy and Fendi. And although she’s still
living in New York, Jessica spends a lot of her free time in
Vegas hanging out with her family and friends.
On the relationship side of things, Jessica -- following her
breakup with Brandon (who ironically dumped her for another
supermodel, Carolyn Murphy) -- began seeing another
musician, System of a Down’s Daron Malakian.
Jessica’s future as a model seems secure, though she has
made no secret of her plans to eventually take a crack at
the entertainment industry once she retires. |
