Biography |
Jeisa Chiminazzo was born April 12, 1985, in Muçum, Rio
Grande do Sul, Brazil. The daughter of an Italian father and
a German mother, Jeisa pursued modeling for the first time
at the age of 13 when she attended a modeling course. It
proved to be a savvy decision, as it brought her to the
attention of Luciano Szafir, a famous Brazilian actor and
model. Impressed by Jeisa’s beauty and grace, Szafir put in
a phone call to a modeling agency in Sao Paulo and within
days Jeisa was signed to her first contract.
Jeisa spent the remainder of the year modeling exclusively
in Brazil, appearing in editorial campaigns for Elle Brazil
and Toda Teen. In fact, Toda Teen was so enamored with Jeisa
that they also placed her on their cover, a nearly unheard
of accomplishment for a new model.
The following year brought even more fanfare as Jeisa
continued to appear in a number of national campaigns.
Increasingly confident in her ability to land new
assignments, she also made the difficult decision to leave
her native Brazil in favor of the bright lights of New York
City. Not surprisingly, Jeisa hit the pavement running after
signing a contract with IMG, the same agency that also
represents Tyra Banks, Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum, and
Rebecca Romijn.
Thanks to IMG’s clout, Jeisa had a huge year in 2000,
appearing in high-profile campaigns for Les Filos, Dila,
Gloria Coelho, and Emanuel Ungaro. Thankfully for Jeisa, the
following year was just as impressive. In addition to making
her Paris catwalk debut, she also appeared in editorials for
Greek Vogue and Vogue Brazil, and she succesfully landed
campaigns for Vide Bula and Rosa Cha.
By now an established entity, Jeisa put her career into
hyperdrive over the next four years, appearing on the covers
of Russian Vogue, German Vogue, Brazilian Vogue, and Italian
Marie Claire. She also became the face of a number of
international campaigns for brands such as Dior,
Intimissimi, D&G, Express Jeans, Chloe, Chanel, Ichtys,
Victoria's Secret, Colcci, Akris, and CK Choice.
As impressive as that four-year stretch may have been, it
was all just a warm up for 2005, the year Jeisa truly
established herself as a world-renown supermodel. In
addition to gracing the covers of Vogue Paris, Russian Vogue
and Japanese Vogue, Jeisa also became a household name that
year thanks to unforgettable campaigns for CK One, Eau de
Marveilles by Hermès, Mobettah, and Arezzo.
Jeisa has had the opportunity to work with some of the
planet’s top designers while also getting to criss-cross the
globe on someone else’s tab. In 2006, Jeisa was named the
star in campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana, Hugo Boss, Cavalli
Class, Paul&Joe, Lacoste, H&M, Gap, and Tommy Hilfiger. |
