Biography |
Born in Berlin, Germany on February 22, 1981, Jeanette
Biedermann grew up showered with love by her parents Bernd
and Marion. An entertainer from the get-go, Jeanette took
part in the Lilliput child circus at the age of 6. Initially
a dancer, Jeanette branched out into singing as she grew
older and discovered a passion for music.
At the age of 17, Jeanette took part in a talent contest
called Bild-Schlagerwettbewerb. She beat out thousands of
fellow contestants to win and, just like that, her path to
stardom became much clearer. In 1999, Jeanette auditioned
for and won the part of Marie Balzer on the hit German soap
opera Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten.
As if 1999 weren't busy enough, Jeanette got to work on her
music career in 2000. Using her talent show win as leverage,
she signed to a music label and immediately set to work on
creating her first rock/pop album. Enjoy was released on
November 13, 2000, and received immediate attention thanks
to the hit "Go Back."
Much lauded as a talented newcomer to the German pop scene,
Jeanette became a workaholic, setting an album-a-year pace
that would continue for the next four years. In November of
2001, Delicious was released. This sophomore album featured
a much more confident Jeanette who shone in songs like "How
It's Got To Be."
A sexier Jeanette emerged a year later as the album Rock My
Life easily became her biggest hit to date, thanks to her
new image and strong tracks like "Rock My Life" and "We've
Got Tonight." After European tours and continued success on
TV, Jeanette was recognized as one of Germany's biggest
stars.
Jeanette upped her fame even further over the next two
years, as she rereleased Rock My Life, adding new songs and
calling it Rock My Life Gold Edition. Fans barely had time
to soak this new addition in before Jeanette finished Break
On Through in November of 2003. Her edgiest, strongest
release yet, this pop-infused album made her Germany's
most-loved singer and one of its most in-demand stars. Hits
included "Rockin' on Heaven's Floor" and "Hold the Line."
In 2004, Jeanette ended her run on Gute Zeiten, schlechte
Zeiten and effectively put her acting career on hold in
order to concentrate on her music. Though she is still often
on television thanks to frequent interviews and a spot as a
jury member on Germany's Star Search, Jeanette is more
musically focused than ever. With a 2005 Echo award
(Germany's equivalent of a Grammy) to her credit thanks to
the single "Run With Me," this decision seems to have been a
wise one. |
