Biography |
Born in Zichen-Zussen-Bolder, located in the Belgium
province of Limburg, on November 8, 1969, Ingrid started her
modeling career in Europe in the mid-‘90s. She relocated to
Paris before her unique look brought her to North America.
Since coming to the States, Ingrid’s career has flourished,
proving she made the right decision to relocate.
Ingrid won the Elite Look of the Year Award in 1990, but
even with a major award from a prestigious modeling agency,
immediate success was not in the cards for Ingrid. Nearly
six years later, she joined a small modeling agency in the
Netherlands, and while Ingrid booked some small modeling
gigs with this agency, her career didn’t exactly blossom.
However, the work she did in the Netherlands was enough for
her to be noticed by modeling agents from Paris. Obviously,
since Paris is a booming mecca for models, Ingrid made the
move to France and it was there that her career began to
thrive.
Two of the biggest clients Ingrid worked for in Paris were
fashion designer Christian Dior and Amway, a marketing
company for jewelry and cosmetics. It was in Paris where
Ingrid also appeared in the magazines Vogue, Marie Claire,
ELLE, and Glamour.
After a few years in Paris, Ingrid made the decision to move
to the United States. She saw New York as the gateway to
more opportunities in modeling and new opportunities in film
and theatre. Success came almost immediately after the move:
Her partnership with Amway in Paris led her to become the
face of Quixtar, Amway’s sister cosmetic company, in New
York City.
Like many models, Ingrid segued into the film industry and
it was in 2003, while filming her role in Taxi (which also
starred fellow model Gisele Bundchen), that she was
introduced to legendary NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon through a
mutual friend. The two began dating, and after about two and
a half years, they announced their engagement on June 23,
2006, at the Infineon Raceway.
On November 7, 2006, Ingrid and Jeff were married in a
private ceremony at the Amphitheatre of Hacienda de San
Antonio in Comala, Colima, Mexico. One month later, the
happy couple made another big announcement: Ingrid was
pregnant. Ingrid and Jeff expressed extreme excitement about
the news. “We found out about the pregnancy the week before
we left for Mexico for the wedding,” Ingrid told Us Weekly.
