Biography |
Born and raised in Virginia, Hilarie Burton enjoyed a
typical upbringing rife with cheerleading competitions and
various extracurricular activities. Though she was a member
of her school’s drama club, Hilarie never gave much thought
to pursuing a career as an actress -- though it wasn’t long
before that began to change.
Following her move to New York City to attend Fordham
University, Hilarie was spotted by an MTV representative and
invited to sit in the audience during a taping of Total
Request Live. It was there that Hilarie made her on-camera
debut, as she was selected to interview the host, Carson
Daly, for 30 seconds. She was consequently invited to cover
the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards and it wasn’t long before
Hilarie was hired as Carson Daly’s TRL co-host.
In 2002, Hilarie got her first taste of the acting bug after
a brief appearance as an unnamed MTV VJ on an episode of
Dawson’s Creek. The following year, Hilarie successfully
auditioned for a role on a new WB drama called One Tree Hill
opposite rising stars Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush.
The show was an instant smash and Hilarie soon found herself
juggling two full-time jobs in two different States (TRL is
shot in New York, while One Tree Hill lenses in North
Carolina).
After conquering the world of television, Hilarie has set
her sights on movies and currently has three films awaiting
distribution (including a drama called Our Very Own, which
stars fellow up-and-coming actors Jason Ritter and Autumn
Reeser). |

Her hobbies are collecting antiques, knitting, and
crocheting.
She has a cat named Poe. (Named after writer Edgar Allan
Poe).
According to Teen People magazine, her worst vice is
cussing.
Hilarie and two of her "One Tree Hill" co-stars were on
"Dawson's Creek" with her; Chad Michael Murray (who plays
Lucas Scott) and Lee Norris (who plays Mouth McFadden).
