Helena Paparizou is a
Greek-Swede singer and occasional songwriter. She is best
known for winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 for
Greece with the song "My Number One" and being a former
member of the duo Antique. |

She was born in Sweden, to Greek parents.
Won Eurovision 2005 competition with song "My Number One"
representing Greece. [21 May 2005]
Came third place with her group Antique in the 2001
Eurovision Song Contest representing Greece with the song
"Die For You".
She is best known for her partnership with her childhood
friend, and fellow Greek-Swede, Nikos Panagiotidis in
Antique, a band which offered a linguistic and musical taste
of the pair's Greek heritage. Antique were initially most
popular in Scandinavia.
Currently the official ambassador for the Greek Ministry of
Tourism. [2005]
Fluent in Greek, Swedish and English.
Added an H to her name, changing it from Elena to Helena, so
that it would be easier to pronounce in Europe.
Her parents are from Volos and Karditsa.
