Biography |
Denise Lawton is a model and actress commonly known as
Denyce Lawton.
Lawton is of African American and Korean descent. Born in
Seoul, South Korea, Lawton is the middle child of three
children. She lived a military life with her family abroad
in such countries as Korea, Japan, and Germany. Her family
moved around the US, living primarily in Neptune, New Jersey
then in Washington D.C. In 1996, she graduated from Largo
High School (Maryland) in Largo, Maryland.
In 1998 she was offered an assistant Vice President position
at Warner Bros. Records. Denyce was also an Assistant Junior
Publicist at 20th Century Fox Films.
With limited experience and opportunities, Denyce
participated in several Theatrical Plays as well as the
famous Shakespeare In The Park Company. She began modeling
for Kemi Oil, FUBU, ADIDAS, Enyce, Karl Kani and Baby Phat.
While pursuing her acting and modeling career, she also
appeared in several Hip Hop/R&B music videos; "Peaches &
Cream" by 112, "One Mic" by Nas, and "Anything" by Jaheim.
Lawton say these video appearances were to accumulate enough
camera experience and money to fund her acting pursuits
before she decided to move to Los Angeles, California in
December 2001.
Other film credits include the films Soul Plane, Go for
Broke, and It Ain't Easy. Denyce has also appeared in
television shows such as Entourage, Scratch & Burn, Half &
Half, The Parkers, the action auto thriller Redline, and
7eventy 5ive.
Lawton is currently a Series Regular on Tyler Perry's House
of Payne where she plays the character as Dana the
manicurist in the barbershop (A newly added cast in Seasons
3,4, & 5) . |
