Christine Solomon Interview |
Q. WHO IS Christine Solomon?
A. Christine Solomon is a Canadian Egyptian actress who
makes tremendous efforts towards achieving her goals. I am a
very stubborn person; when I set my mind for something, I
have to accomplish it. I am constantly searching, exploring,
introspecting and discovering my role in the world. I
dedicate a considerable amount of effort and time to
developing my strengths and positive qualities. Every
challenge I face teaches me something new.
Q. Why did you choose this profession?
A. Because as an actor I can be anyone I want to be, without
having to face any dire consequences (with a smile).
One of the greatest things about my career is that acting is
a constant learning process; it gives me the chance to
discover new facets of language, culture, history,
psychology, etc. As an actor, I learn so much about the
world and about myself, I am constantly expanding my
knowledge base.
Q. Your vision and mission?
A. I see myself working with Tim Burton in the near future.
(With a big smile) I have always admired his work and
accomplishments. I also see myself wearing a sari; singing
and dancing in a Bollywood film. My mission is to help
others who are in need. This is why I show support for Make
Poverty History. Whoever wishes to make a change; I say join
us today and make a difference. Just log on to the website
makepovertyhistory.
Q. The best compliment you have ever received?
A. Oh my! That’s a tough one. I am not the type to brag
about my looks at all. However, I have been told that I
resemble Penelope Cruz. I am very flattered, I love the way
she carries herself.
Q. Your greatest accomplishment so far?
A. When Al Ahram took interest in interviewing me twice in
Egypt. It was a huge compliment for me; it generated a lot
of interest in my acting career.
Q. One thing you would like to change about yourself?
A. I must admit I am too hard on myself. I demand a lot from
myself and rarely take any breaks. However, I consider what
I do to be fun-filled, so I guess, my being too hard on
myself doesn’t count after all (laughing...)
Q. Your source of inspiration, which drives you to work and
reach out?
A. I find inspiration in music, books and in strong people
who believe in what they do and do everything in their power
to reach their goals.
Q. Your most embarrassing moment?
A. Oh gosh! There are too many. (roars into laughter) Let’s
just say I am a very clumsy person.
Q. What qualities would you see in your dream partner?
A. A combination of vulnerability, intelligence and wit and
humour.
Q. Your upcoming projects?
A. Right now, my focus is on my two upcoming films "Basra"
and "Heliopolis", due to open this year. I have been
communicating with journalists, giving interviews to
magazines and newspapers.
My first film "Basra" directed by Ahmed Rahswan; has been
selected for the Valencia Film Festival this year.
Therefore I will be heading to Spain in October to attend
the film festival. I have been in talks with couple of
directors from India. So I am pretty ecstatic about that. It
has always been a dream of mine. So India, here I come!
