Biography |
Chanel Ryan was born December 12, 1976, in Allentown,
Pennsylvania. Although the drab Eastern town may be paradise
for some, Chanel longed for sunnier climes and her wish was
granted when she and her family moved to California before
her teens.
The Golden State’s warm weather and relaxed vibe definitely
agreed with her, and Chanel was discovered a few years later
while she and her friends were hanging out at the beach. “I
was lying there soaking up the sun when a swimwear company
approached me to model for them,” she recalls. “Of course I
said yes! What could be better than getting paid to hang out
at my favorite place?”
Chanel’s beautiful physique and easy-going demeanor helped
her score multiple photo shoots and catalog work and, before
long, she also gained the attention of California’s bustling
film community. In fact, her big-screen debut came in 1988
in Beach Balls, a lowbrow comedy directed by Joe Ritter. “I
played a waitress dressed in a bikini with a rubber ducky
inner tube around my waist, flippers on my feet and goggles
on my head,” she says.
Chanel’s modest entry into showbiz paved the way for a
number of other opportunities and she soon began appearing
in public service announcements, commercials and television
shows. Along the way, her modeling assignments also became
more lucrative as she began to land campaigns for big-name
brands such as Pepsi, Expedia.com, Siemens, Coke, Visa, Del
Taco, Miller Genuine Draft, Yamaha, Ben Nye, Saturn,
Volkswagen, and Frederick’s of Hollywood.
1997 was an especially exciting year for Chanel as she
appeared in three films, including Attitudes, Bikini Hotel,
and most notably, George Wallace, a biopic about the Alabama
governor starring Gary Sinise and Angelina Jolie. “I had a
featured role as a Southern belle named Susie,” she says
proudly. “I was excited and terrified at the same time.
Working with such experienced and talented actors made me
realize how much I still had to learn and motivated me to
get moving.”
Luckily, Chanel was given the opportunity to learn even more
the following year when she landed a role in BASEketball, an
amusing sports film starring Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Chanel has since enjoyed roles in Dish Dogs (2000), The Last
Great Infomercial (2005) and Hobgoblins 2 (2007). “The
original Hobgoblins is a cult classic that was shot in the
1980s,” she explains. “Part two is made by the same director
and I actually wear some of the same wardrobe.” |
