Biography |
Back stateside, Brooke went to San Diego State University,
where she studied marine biology. By the early 1990s, she
had settled down in Los Angeles, where she began to pursue
acting full-time.
In 1992, she had guest starring roles on Baywatch and
Beverly Hills, 90210. After a few years, she progressed to
TV movies, including Moment of Truth: A Mother's Deception
(1994) and Moment of Truth: Eye of the Stalker (1995).
She made her feature debut in Terminal Velocity (1994), with
a bit part.
In 1995 and 1996, Brooke was reaching a variety of
mainstream television audiences. She had guest appearances
on shows like Chicago Hope, The Single Guy, Party of Five,
Young Indiana Jones, and Sliders.
But in 1996, Brooke had her most prominent TV role yet when
she was cast as Samantha Reilly Campbell on Melrose Place;
she stayed on the primetime melodrama until 1998.
Meanwhile, Brooke was expanding her range into movie roles
as well. She was the object of Jon Favreau's affection in
1996's Swingers (who could forget the classic answering
machine scene?), and followed up that notable performance
with Listen (1996), Mixed Signals (1997), The Small Hours
(1997), and Reach the Rock (1998).
Also in 1998, Brooke had her first starring role in a TV
series. In The Net, based on the Sandra Bullock movie of the
same name, she played the lead, Angela Bennett, a woman
trying to escape from the information highway. The series
never made it past one season.
In the new millennium, Brooke continued to take parts in
low-profile or independent films. She was Keanu Reeves' love
interest in The Replacements (2000), and appeared in Playing
Mona Lisa (2000) and Kiss the Bride (2002).
In between, she tried her luck on a new TV series, Fling, in
2001; but it, like The Net, never took off. She was cast in
a small role in Ang Lee's Hulk in 2003, but the part was
apparently cut. Her most recent project is the indie film
Partners, coming in 2005.
Brooke lives in Los Angeles with her two dogs, and when
she's not walking them, she's water-skiing, snowboarding or
deep-sea diving. Although she had a brief affair with George
Clooney in 1999, she's now engaged to Carl Hagmier. The
couple plan to marry in February 2005. |
