Biography |
Brittany Snow was born on March 9, 1986, in Tampa, Florida.
Her career began at the tender age of 3 after she appeared
in an ad for the Florida-based department store Burdines.
Brittany’s parents, recognizing their daughter’s photogenic
personality and natural comfort in front of the camera,
started taking her to a series of auditions, and it wasn’t
long before she was appearing in commercials for such
recognizable names as McDonald’s and K-Mart.
Determined to progress beyond advertisements, Brittany began
honing her craft by taking on roles in a whole host of local
stage productions, including Annie, Pirates of Penzance and
South Pacific. Her burgeoning confidence allowed her to
start auditioning for various local endeavors, and in 1995
she made her debut on the Disney Channel production Walt
Disney World Inside Out. She followed that up with a
two-episode stint on SeaQuest DSV, and subsequently hired an
agent to secure auditions for television shows and movies.
Just one week after locking down an agent, Brittany landed
an audition for the long-running CBS show Guiding Light.
Soon after, Brittany found herself jetting between the
Guiding Light set in New York and her classes back home in
Florida. It was a grueling schedule, but Brittany, along
with her supportive parents, made it work. And although she
only stayed with the show for eight episodes, Brittany was
able to parlay her experiences on the soap into increasingly
high-profile gigs.
In 2002, Brittany’s profile was raised exponentially after
she landed the role of Meg Pryor on American Dreams, an NBC
show revolving around the exploits of a circa 1960s family.
She soon found herself acting opposite fellow up-and-coming
stars like Sarah Ramos and Vanessa Lengies. Despite the
efforts of the show’s devoted fans (who went so far as to
bombard NBC with postcards), American Dreams was canceled
after only three seasons, though Brittany’s effortless
charisma and talent ensured that she was destined for bigger
and better things.
Following the demise of American Dreams, Brittany appeared
alongside Vin Diesel and Lauren Graham in the 2005 Disney
comedy The Pacifier. The film went on to gross over $100
million at the box office and deftly proved that Brittany
had a real flair for comedy. She followed that up with a
five-episode stint on the hit show Nip/Tuck, in which she
played the girlfriend of John Hensley’s troubled character.
The role was a real departure for Brittany because she was
generally best known for playing squeaky-clean characters
and was made to step into the shoes of a comparatively nasty
figure. She pulled it off, however, and displayed the sort
of range that even her most ardent followers weren’t aware
she possessed.
Brittany got her first crack at a leading role in 2006 with
John Tucker Must Die, which cast her opposite fellow hot,
young actors Jesse Metcalfe, Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel.
In early 2007, Brittany appeared in Hairspray, based on the
smash musical, costarring John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer
and Zac Efron; and she was cast to star in the 2008 film
Finding Amanda, a comedy featuring Matthew Broderick. |
