Biography |
Beth Phoenix, "The Glamazon", is an American professional
wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment
wrestling on the Raw brand, where she is in her second reign
as WWE Women's Champion.
Carolan began wrestling on the Elmira, New York Notre Dame
High School scholastic wrestling team. She was the first
female varsity wrestler in her high school's history. She
became the North-East freestyle women's champion (72 kg
weight class) in 1999. She also became the women's champion
(72 kg weight class) at the New York State Fair Tournament
in 1999 and was named the most outstanding wrestler that
same year in the Brockport Freestyle Tournament. At the time
she was also a member of USA Wrestling (a freestyle
wrestling association). Her life goal was, according to her,
to become a professional wrestler and she believed that
having a solid amateur background would help her reach it.
She was raised in Buffalo, New York. When she was eleven
years old, she won a coloring contest with a prize of
tickets to a television taping for World Wrestling
Federation. Carolan credits this as when she fell in love
with professional wrestling.
Despite popular internet belief, Beth Phoenix has never
dated Chris Masters; however they did work together in OVW
as a storyline couple. She is married to Joey Carolan, known
by the ring-name Joey Knight.
Beth also starred in a 2003 horror movie along with TNA
knockout Traci Brooks called Zombie Beach Party as a zombie
killer. |

Beth has managed Aaron 'The Idol' Stevens (Aaron Haddad),
Brent Albright, Chris Masters (Christopher Mordetsky), Joey
Knight (Joseph Magliano) (better known as Joey Maggs) &
Shelly Martinez.
Her wrestling moves include Beth Valley Driver (Death Valley
driver), Down In Flames (Michinoku Driver II), Gorilla press
slam, Missile dropkick, Super Samoan driver, Texas
cloverleaf, Sidewalk slam & the Spear.
Defeated Candice Michelle at No Mercy to win the WWE women's
championship.
Debuted her "Glamazon" Character originally in OVW when she
returned from her Jaw injury.
While away from WWE television, she returned to OVW and won
the OVW Womens title, she also took part in the first ever
Ladies Ladder Match along with Katie Lea.
Made her WWE debut May 8th 2006 attacking Mickie James and
five weeks later she had her first singles match on Raw
against Victoria and broke her jaw and didn't return to WWE
action until July 9th 2007.
Worked with Brent Albright (as his "cousin") and Chris
Masters (as his "girlfriend") before joining with Aaron
Stevens.
Relocated to Louisville to work with OVW in 2003 in hopes of
gaining a WWE developmental deal, she was eventually offered
a WWE developmental deal after drastically changing her
look. She signed the developmental deal on October 20th
2005.
First female wrestler on the FNW (Far North Wrestling)
roster.
First female winner of a 14 man over the top battle royal in
AWF (2002).
Turned professional in 2000.
Trained by the All Knighters (who were trained in the
Legandary Hart Dungeon).
Attended Canisius College in Buffalo.
A member of USA Wrestling.
Continued amateur wrestling and became the North-East
champion in 1999. She was also named most outstanding
wrestler the same year.
