Biography |
By the time Agnes Bruckner was barely out of her teens, she
was already a savvy Hollywood veteran. This blond-haired
California girl got her big start in show business at the
age of 11 when she was cast as the wild-child Bridget
Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful. "It was a really
good experience, and I learned everything I needed to, but
it wasn't my cup of tea,” she says of the popular soap
opera. “About a year and a half into it I decided I wanted
to leave."
Luckily, she found plenty of other opportunities waiting for
her, and Agnes spent the next two years guest-starring on
hit shows like Pacific Blue, The Fugitive and Touched by and
Angel. After proving herself on the small screen, Agnes made
the jump to the silver screen in 2001 with a role in The
Glass House, a fast-paced thriller starring Leelee Sobieski.
Next up was the controversial indie film, Blue Car, in which
Agnes plays a troubled young girl who has an illicit affair
with her English teacher. The daring role earned Agnes a
nomination for best female lead at the Independent Spirit
Awards. The attention also gained her a slew of additional
roles in such films as Home Room (2002), with Erika
Christensen, Murder by Numbers, starring Sandra Bullock, and
Rick (2003), a modern-day tragedy starring Bill Pullman.
After appearing in five episodes of Kiefer Sutherland's hit
show 24 in 2003, Agnes returned to the big screen with a
vengeance and landed major roles in the films Stateside
(2004), starring Val Kilmer and Rachael Leigh Cook, Haven
(2004), starring Orlando Bloom, and The Woods, a horror
flick featuring Rachel Nichols.
In 2006, Agnes took on roles in the drama Peaceful Warrior,
starring Nick Nolte, and in the thrillers Blood and
Chocolate and Killers, with Taryn Manning. "I get a lot of
dark scripts now,” she admits. “I don't wanna be stuck doing
movies like American Pie. For someone my age, once you get
started doing them, it's hard to get out." |
