Biography |
Adrianne Marie Curry was born August 6, 1982, in Joliet,
Illinois. Like many girls, she grew up dreaming of one day
becoming an international fashion model. Her reality,
however, was far more grim. Hooked on heroin and cocaine at
an early age, Adrianne dropped out of high school in 2000
when she was still just a junior.
Although she’d eventually complete her GED, Adrianne spent
the next three years bouncing around from one part-time job
to another, working as a telemarketer one day and as a
waitress at Hooters the next. Despite the many changes in
her life, the one consistent factor was her desire to model.
Luckily, Adrianne got a chance to do just that in 2003 when
she applied to become a contestant on America’s Next Top
Model, a new UPN program about the transformation of
everyday women into fierce supermodels.
The program turned out to be the perfect showcase for
Adrianne’s inner and outer beauty and, after several
grueling weeks of photo shoots and fashion shows, she was
crowned the winner. Although the show made her an instant
celebrity, it failed to produce some of the results she was
expecting.
“The show didn't put any money into us,” she says. “I was
supposed to get a Revlon contract, but that fell through… It
was a wake-up call. I realized people will lie and walk all
over you for self-gain if you're not careful."
Although her Revlon contract failed to materialize, Adrianne
quickly rebounded by landing high-profile campaigns for
Macy's and Merit Diamonds. She also appeared in glossy
magazines, such as Stuff, People, Maxim, and Marie Claire.
Despite her bittersweet experience with reality TV, Adrianne
returned to the small screen again in 2005 on VH1’s The
Surreal Life. This time, rather than being surrounded by
wannabe models, she was surrounded by washed-up celebrities
like Da Brat, Verne Troyer and Joanie Laurer. In addition to
giving her career a jolt in the arm, the show also did
wonders for her love life when she fell for fellow cast
member -- and former Brady Bunch star -- Christopher Knight.
Not surprisingly, the couple’s romance created some of the
show’s most memorable moments and even led to their very own
VH1 spin-off entitled My Fair Brady.
2006 was an especially busy year for Adrianne. In addition
to tying the knot with Christopher on May 29, she also
appeared in Ballbreakers, Hot Properties and Lingerie Bowl,
and she posed nude for the February issue of Playboy.
Persistent in keeping her career on the rise, Adrianne
jokes, “I'm gonna beat on Victoria's Secret's and Sports
Illustrated's doors till they get restraining orders on me!”
As for her acting career, she has been cast in the big
screen’s Fallen Angels (2006), a terrifying horror movie
starring Michael Dorn. |
